Chronic Migraine Headaches have become much more frequent and problematic for the United States of America. Headaches and migraines have found themselves becoming more and more frequent and growing by 60%. The increase is mostly occurring around the 45 year and younger crowd. Strangely, women are finding themselves with this problem more frequently than men.
80% of women and 70% of men with chronic migraine headaches have reported that they have contacted their health professional at least once every year since they began having problems with migraines. They have also found that 7% of women and 8% of men have been admitted to hospitals because of the severity of their problem. Migraines also have a direct effect on productivity as well. 4% of men and 3% of women have said that their ability to perform tasks and errands have been limited by Chronic Migraine Headaches.
Migraine suffers have a great impact on society because they are relied upon to generate production. However, a lot of energy is spent on doctor visits, hospitalizations, disability payments, and medications. The most stalwart of sufferers may try to take some pills that are readily available to headache sufferers such as aspirin and the alike. Unfortunately, the use of these treatments has become more and more prevalent as a true way to deal with the pain of the conditions. Yet, none of these treatments last very long or provide long-term relief to the product users.
The chiropractic approach to solving the problem of headaches and migraines may be more suited to what your body actually needs. The first thing a chiropractor will do is to consider and examine any injuries to the spine. The injuries could be affecting the nervous system and must be considered when deciding what treatment program is correct for the patient. Migraines and/or headaches may just be one of the many things that occur when a person has an injury to the spine.
The chiropractor will work as hard as possible to get to the root of the problem so that they can solve it. Scientific studies have been done and have shown that this type of treatment program is effective for helping and/or solving the problem. A good chiropractor will use exercises and adjustments. The treatment program may alleviate the need for over-the-counter drugs, make the pain far less to bear, and it can possibly stop the re-occurrence of headaches or migraines. The severity of the injury and the time you have been injured greatly affect how much you can improve each session of treatment.
Of course, we have to remember that a chiropractor has to make a determination based on a well-performed examination. The examination will include a history of the pain and what it has done to your life. It is highly likely that there will be tests of your nervous system, and x-rays to see how your spine is doing and if it is out of place. Any of these problems gives a chiropractor a clue as to which way they should take the treatment.
Remember that a headache or migraine can be a sign of something else that might be wrong with your spine. It is best to have someone who understands that area to make a thorough examination of the area. It is also important to remember that using over-the-counter drugs only make the problem go away for a little awhile. It always returns and the underlying problem does not get solved.
